Independence Green Living Community is a green community comprising eight zero energy homes, twelve zero energy townhomes and eight zero energy apartments located on 1.8 acres in Santa Rosa California.
The project is a recycle of an existing broken subdivision. Roads and infrastructure had been installed but the previous project was not economically feasible due to the reset in the housing market.
By applying our Living Community approach to the redevelopment, the project now works as a high density low impact development, with a pricing structure better suited to today’s home prices.
All the homes are designed to strict green standards, including renewable energy for powersupply, energy conservation using high efficiency appliances and HVAC, and LED lighting, and water conservation measures, via low flow fixtures, duel flush toilets and smart landscape irrigation controls. The building interior materials are healthy low VOC materials.
